Kotah was a Princely State during British rule in India, it is also known as Kota. Kotah is situated in the Indian State of Rajasthan. During the 18th century, it was subdivided out of Bundi State. Both Kotah and Bundi together use to constitute the track called Haraoti, the country of the Haras, to which race the Rulers of the two States belong. But, later Kotah was subdivided from Bundi. The rulers of Bundi or Maharao of Bundi belong to the Chauhan clan of Rajputs.This silver square nazarana rupee that weighs around 10.98g, minted in Nandgaon was issued from Princely State Kotah. The silver nazarana rupee was issued in the name of Mughal emperor Muhammad Akbar II. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Mughal Emperor Muhammad Akbar II. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name Nandgaon.
