Copper Paisa of Sher Shah Suri

Sher Shah Suri was the founder of Sur dynasty; He was the son of Small Afgan Jagirdar near Jaunpur. He was given the title of ‘Sher Khan’ after he killed a tiger. He defeated Humayun and took over the Mughal Empire.Sher Shah Suri belongs to a Pashtun dynasty of Afghanistan supplanted the Mughal Dynasty during Humayun’s reign. He started his carrier a commander in Babur army and was later raised to the position of governor of Bihar. In the year 1531, he declared himself as an independent and started ruling over Bihar and later in 1534 became the ruler of Bengal also.
He the year 1540 he defeated Mughal Empire Humayun in the Battle of Kannauj and went on to capture Delhi and Agra, hence establishing the rule of the Suri Dynasty.
This copper paisa was issued by him from the mint Hissar during his rule in Delhi Sultanate. The weight of this copper paisa is around 20.1g. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Sher Shah Suri. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name.
