Nickel-Plated Steel Coin of Uzbekistan

The som currency is of Uzbekistan. The ‘som’ means pure in Kyrgyz, Uyghur, and Uzbek and also in many Turkish languages.The obverse of 100 som coin features Coat of arms without stars, Bank title, and year of minting. The reverse of the coin depicts value, Uzbekistan map and sunrays. The edge of the coin has inscriptions. The composition of the coin is Nickel-plated steel. The diameter of the coin is 26.9 mm.
Uzbekistan replaced the ruble with som on 15th November 1993. The banknotes were issued in denominations of 1, 3, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 5000, and 10,000 som. All notes of this series had the Coat of arms on obverse and Sher-Dor Madrasah of the Registan in Samarkand on the reverse.
The first series of coins was written in Cyrillic script, while the second and third series is written in Latin script.
