His reign is commonly seen as marking the end of the Western Roman Empire.Odoacer was a German warrior, the son of Medico (Edeco), and probably a member of the Sciri tribe. He became the first non-Roman King of Italy on 3rd September, 476 C.E, after defeating the last Roman king, Romulus Augustus. As a warrior, Odoacer had successfully conquered regions like Dalmatia, Sicily, regions near the Danube, etc.
Depicted Odoacer solidus struck in the name of Emperor Zeno, testifying to the formal submission of Odoacer to Zeno. The obverse of a coin engraved pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Zeno facing, head slightly right, holding spear over right shoulder and on left arm shield with a horseman motif. The reverse of the coin depicts Victory standing left, holding a long jeweled cross, star in right field.
