Gold Coin of Indo-Portuguese Listed For INR 2,85,000

This gold Half-Manuel (Mea or 240 Reais) issued by king Manuel is listed for INR 2,85,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla that will be held in Mumbai on 30th August 2020. King Manuel sat on the throne in the year 1495 CE and ruled it till 1521 CE.The obverse side of these coins depicts a large crown with a complete round ring of the crown, MEA below, a pellet within the ring of the crown. The reverse side of this coin depicts the Armillary sphere set on a base. This was the first gold coins issued for Goa.
