Women’s Equality Day commemorates 26th August 1920 when votes to women officially became part of the US constitution. This day marks a turning point in the history of the struggle for equal treatment of women and women’s rights.Women’s Equality Day has been designed to commemorate the Nineteenth Amendment being adopted in the 1920s in the United States. This act stopped the federal government and states from preventing people from the right to vote based on their sex. Today, we mark the 100th anniversary of the certification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
The above stamp was issued in the year 2016 which promotes U.N Women’s “He for She” campaign which urges promoting Gender Equality and fight for women’s rights. This particular joint issue se-tenant Indian stamp depicts a vector image of an Indian-looking woman’s half face on the 25 Rs stamp and an Indian-looking man’s half face on the 5 Rs stamp.
