"Photography is the simplest thing in the world, but it is incredibly complicated to make it really work." - Martin ParrWorld Photography Day is observed on 19 August to pay homage to the history of photography, celebrate the present, and for future leave a positive trail.
It is hard to imagine a world without photography. Since the early 19th century, photography becomes an important part of life, an ever-increasing medium of personal expression and appreciation for countless people across the world.
The day generates awareness, share ideas, and encourage individuals in this field. It also encourages enthusiasts to express their feelings, emotions, and social thinking through their photography skills.
In the year 2013, Romfilatelia introduced into circulation the postage stamp issue Collection objects – Photo Cameras. The issue approached by Romfilatelia illustrates on the postage stamps antique cameras belonging to the collection of the Technical Museum of Bucharest. Romania Post issued a set of six stamps with the denominations raging of 0.50 LEI, 0.80 LEI, 1.40 LEI, 2.10 LEI, 2 LEI, and 14.50 LEI.
The stamp shown above is a Lei 1.40 stamp which illustrates the Plaubell Makina camera (Germany). The device was manufactured in the second decade of the 20th century by Plaubell GmbH Company set up in 1902 by Hugo Schrader. At the beginning of its existence, the company produced and traded very high-quality lenses.
