Elephants are not only a cultural icon in India and throughout Asia; they also help to maintain the integrity of their forest and grassland habitats. Hence, elephants have been featured on a number of coins, stamps, and banknotes of India.
The above-shown banknote is issued in the year 1937. The Banknote depicts the emblem of Reserve Bank of India in the center flanked by two decorative elephants. The obverse of the banknote features the portrait King George V. These types of banknotes were withdrawn from the circulation in the year 1947.
