Che Guevara, “I am not a liberator. Liberators do not exist. The people liberate themselves”.The effigy of Che Guevara is not unknown to the youth of the world. Commonly wear t-shirts of Che’s portrait can be seen all around.
Che Guevara was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary. In 1951, he left the school to travel around South America with a friend. He had a profound effect on poor living conditions which he witnessed in his 9 months journey.
He had a firm belief that only revolution could bring justice to the people of South America. And so he abandons medicine. In 1955, he met Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro. Soon, he served Castro as a primary advisor and led their growing guerrilla forces in attacks against the crumbling Batista regime.
He left his post and traveled to Congo and then to Bolivia. But unfortunately, he was captured by the Bolivian army and killed in La Higuera on October 9, 1967.
On his 30th death anniversary, Argentina paid tribute by issuing his stamps.
