Silver Rupee of King Chhatrapat Singh of Princely State Dholpur

Dholpur was a Princely State during the British rule in India. It was founded in the year 1806 CE by a Jat ruler. Dholpur had derived its name from the name of a Rajput Raja Dholun Deo Tonwar. The family belongs to the Deswali clan of Jats and traces its origin to Jet Singh who acquired lands south of Alwar in the eleventh century.This silver rupee was issued by King Chhatrapat Singh during his rule in Princely State Dholpur. It was issued by him from the mint Gohad, it was issued in the name of Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II. The weight of this coin around 11.06g and it was issued in the Hijri year 1190. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II with the Hijri year 1190. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name and regnal year 18.
