Gold Heavy Tanka of Nasir Al-Din Muhammad Shah I

Nasir Al-Din Muhammad Shah I was the sultan of the Gujarat Sultanate. The above gold tanka was issued by Nasir-Al-Din Muhammad Shah I during his reign in Gujarat Sultanate. Nasir Al-Din Muhammad Shah I sat on the throne on Gujarat Sultanate in the year 1458 CE and ruled it till 1511 CE.Nasir Al-Din Muhammad Shah I issued a coin in all three metals gold, silver, and copper. Nasir Al-Din Muhammad Shah I also issued coin is a billion metals.
This gold tanka which weighs around 11.98g was issued by him during his reign in Gujarat Sultanate. The obverse of this gold tanka is inscribed as ‘Al Wathiq Ba Tayid al RahmanNasir-al-DunyaWa'l Din Abu'lFath’. The reverse side of this gold tanka is inscribed as ‘Mahmud Shah Bin Muhammad Shah al-Sultan within Double Square. Mint and date in the margin’. This gold tanka was sold for INR 60,000 in an auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery which was held on 20th December 2019.
