Plurinational State of Bolivia exhibit Black Caiman through Banknotes

The currency of Bolivia is called Boliviano which is further divided into cents or centavos. The Central Bank of Bolivia introduced a new family of banknotes of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in April 2018. The new family of banknotes received several awards such as ‘the best banknotes in Latin America’.In 1987, peso boliviano banknotes were overprinted with denominations in centavos and bolivianos. In the first round, they issued 1, 5, 10 and 50 centavos, and 1, 5 and 10 bolivianos. Later, denominations of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 bolivianos were also introduced.
In 2018, the notes are the first to bear the formal name of Bolivia ‘Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia’. It reflects the multiculturalism of the country.
The note displays the Black Caiman and Toborochi. The black caiman the largest species of crocodile and is one of the biggest extant members of the family Alligatoridae and order Crocodilia.Toborochi? silk floss tree is a species of deciduous tree native to the tropical and subtropical forests of South America. It also means ‘tree of refugee’ or ‘sheltering tree’.
