Civil Right Activist Elizabeth Peratrovich was honoured!

Elizabeth Peratrovich was an American civil rights activist and worked for the rights of Alaska natives. She was credited for advocating equal opportunities for natives Alaska. Later, she gained the credit of the territory's Anti-Discrimination Act of 1945. It was the first anti-discrimination law in the United States.The Alaskan territorial government commemorated Elizabeth Peratrovichand the 1945 Anti-Discrimination Lawby issuing 1 Dollar coin. The obverse of the coin features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste, and faces the right side. Engraved legends are ‘Liberty’ and ‘In God We Trust’.
The reverse showcase the portrait of Elizabeth Peratrovich and a symbol of the Tlingit Raven moiety (tribal subdivision), of which she was a member. The engraved letterings are ‘The United States of America’, ‘Elizabeth Peratrovich’, ‘Denomination’, and ‘Anti-Discrimination Law of 1945’. The coin is made of Manganese- brass. The coin was issued in 2020.
