Chinotimba Suggests Introduction of $100 Bond Coins
2016-05-21 Sat
The Zimbabwean government was debating about the economic impact of introducing bond notes at an assembly session when the eccentric Chinotimba raised a rather strange issue. He stated that the people of Zimbabwe are not happy about Bond notes and asked if $1, $5 or $10 bond coins can be minted instead. His reasoning behind this idea was that he wanted to avoid panic withdrawals. He stated that people of Zimbabwe are in favour of coins than the notes, who according to him, are planning protest marches against the decision of issuing bond notes. The Speaker of the house did not pay much attention to his opinion which agitated Chinotimba further.
Chinamasa finally responded by saying that bankers and retail associations are happy about the concept of the bond notes and the percentage of those who opposed this idea was considerably very miniscule. Apart from that this group of individuals have very fairly less knowledge about financial issues that the country is facing as they generally deal with small transactions.
Chinotimba suggested the introduction of a $100 coin as he thinks that transportation facility would be required to carry large number of small denomination coins in case of bigger transactions.
