Bowed Liberty Dollar of 1804 was a dollar coin that was struck by the mint of the United States. Fifteen specimens of this one are known to exist. It was created as a special proof coin set which can be gifted to diplomats during Edmund Roberts' trips to Siam and Muscat.These sets of coins were produced for the diplomats has the combination of without edge lettering and those with lettering are known collectively as "Class I", "Class II" and "Class III" dollars, respectively.
The price of this coin had reached $1000 at Auction in 1885. Later, in the mid-twentieth century, the coin price crossed $30,000. In 1999, a Class I example sold for $4.14 million, then the highest price paid for any coin.
The obverse of the coin features Bust of Liberty, facing to the right side, with the date and the word "LIBERTY". And the reverse side of the coin embarked Heraldic representation of an eagle holding a scroll reading "E PLURIBUS UNUM", above which are 13 stars and clouds, with "The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" along the periphery.
