Akbar Gold Mohur Listed For INR 450,000

This gold mohur issued by Mughal Emperor Jalal-ud-Din Muhammad Akbar during his reign in Mughal Emperor.Jalal-Ud-din Muhammad Akbar was the third ruler of the Mughal dynasty in India. He succeeded his father Humayun in the year 1556 AD and ruled until he died in 1605. He sat on the Mughal throne when he was just 13 years old. After defeating Hemu – a Hindu general of the Sur dynasty – in the Second Battle of Panipat (1556), Akbar reacquired the Delhi throne and established the Mughal rule again.
The weight of this gold mohur is around 10.8g and it was minted in Patna. The obverse of this gold mohur is inscribed as ‘Jalal ud-Din Muhammad Akbar Badshah Ghazi, Khalad Allah tali’ Malkah wa Saltanat, with complete mint name Zarb Patna written at the bottom’. The reverse of this gold mohur is inscribed as ‘La ila ila Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah within the square border, with names of the four Khalifas in the margin’. This gold mohur is listed for INR 450,000 in an 18th electronic auction of Todywalla which will be held on 21st June 2020.
