2016-05-19 Thu
Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in West Virginia will be commemorated with the release of a special coin on 8th June 2016 by the U.S. Mint and the National Park.A coin forum will kick-start the event, an evening before the quarter launch and a coin exchange will take place after the ceremony. This public event is free of cost.
It sometimes takes years for these quarters to appear in change as they are officially distributed to financial institutions without considering a specific design. The launch event is where the general public would get lucky to own the third of five 2016-dated quarters, which is also the 33rd of the 56 scheduled in the U.S. Mint program of America the Beautiful Quarters.
The 30-40 minute event would comprise of speeches by dignitaries that would explain the historical background about the park; entertaining performances and the official launch where these coins will be handed out to school kids.
The event would start at 10:00 a.m. (ET) at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Lower Town, Hamilton Street along the Shenandoah River, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425. The launch event would be followed by the coin exchange program where anyone can buy new quarters worth up to $100 in $10 rolls.
The coin forum will take place on 7th June from 6.30 to 7.30 pm at the same location.
