Ronald Ross, the Indian-English physician, and mathematician was on 13th May 1857. He was a British medical doctor who received the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1902.In 1902 for his work on the transmission of malaria, he received Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. Through this, he becomes the first British Nobel laureate and the firstborn outside Europe (India).
In 2009 Guine-Bissau Postal Department has issued 400 FCFA commemorative postage stamp to pay homage to Sir Ronald Ross, whose memory is cherished by mankind around the world. In the background a mosquito having supper and a light microscope image of blood cells of an infected person.
