Identifying the Fakes
2020-04-14 Tue
It has been three years since the old banknotes of 500 and 1000 rupees were discarded or demonetized and replaced by the new ones. Even after this big step the problem of counterfeiting fake notes is not completely vanished. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has embedded security features to all Indian currencies which will help you to identify ‘real’ notes from the ‘fake’ ones? Read on to know the signs indicating fake currencies. The Watermark
A watermark is an identifying image or pattern in the paper which proves the authenticity of the document. Every Indian banknote has a watermark which is normally the national emblem. In a fake currency, the watermark usually looks thick.
Figures & Alignment
< In real currency, the figures will be aligned perfectly. But in the fake currency, chances are there to get the figures out of alignments. The gap between digits, smaller or bigger numbers, and the unaligned digits should be observed carefully.
Ink Smudge
Real notes will not have ink smudges and broken printed lines. The notes with broken printed lines and ink smudges are suspicious.
Security Thread
In a fake note, the security thread is printed or drawn over the note. On the other hand, the original one is incorporated through the currency.
