US Criticizes ‘Anti-Semitic’ Romanian Coin
2016-05-14 Sat
Romania's central bank released three coins in mid-April bearing the image of a former bank governor Mihail Manoilescu who promoted the fascist ideology and anti-Semitism. The U.S Embassy has criticised this coin launch completely.Manoilescu was the foreign minister when Romania was allied with Nazi Germany in 1940. He supported the fascist Iron Guard and signed a diktat due to which they lost a huge territory to Hungary. He later died in a Communist prison in 1950.
There have been no reactions to this criticism as of now.
