Eldrick Tont Woods, better known as Tiger Woods is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers, and one of the most famous athletes of all time. Today on April 13, in the year 1997 Woods becomes the youngest golfer to win the Masters Tournament.Tiger Woods was born in Cypress, California, in 1975. Woods studied at Stanford University and won a number of amateur U.S. golf titles before turning professional in 1996. He won the U.S. Masters at Augusta in 1997 with a record score at age 21, making him the youngest man and the first African American to earn the title.
Woods has held numerous golf records. He has been the number one player in the world for the most consecutive weeks and for the greatest total number of weeks of any golfer in history. To honor him many countries have issued various commemorative stamps featuring him. The above shown 22 Maldivian Rufiyaa stamp was issued by Maldives Postal Department to celebrate the 40th Birth Anniversary of Tiger Woods.
