Nawanagar was a Princely State during the British rule in India. Today it is located in the Indian state of Gujarat.State Nawanagar was formed by Jam Shri Rawalji, a descendent of Jam Halla who claimed to be the heir of Lord Krishna, in the year 1540 CE. The rulers of this dynasty were from the Jadeja dynasty; they ruled his region from 1540 CE to 1948 CE. Jam Shri Rawalji established this region near the banks of Nagmati and Rangmati. The rulers of Nawanagar were always in a constant state of war with its neighbors and with the Mughal Empire. Nawanagar had signed the Instrument of Accession in 1948 AD after Indian Independence.
