Silver Rupee of Princely State Karauli

Karauli was a Princely State during the British rule in India. Today it is located in the north-west region of Rajasthan. This state was ruled by the Jodan Rajputs that belong to the same linage as the royal house of Jaisalmer.State Karauli was passed successively under both Mughal and Maratha rule. In 1817 AD it came under the rule of Rajputana Agency of the British Raj. After Independence in 1947 AD, the state under the hold of Maharaja Ganesh Pal Deo acceded to the Dominion of India on 7 April 1949. Karauli later merged with the Union of India and became a part of the state of Rajasthan.
This silver rupee which weighs around 11.30g was issued by King Bhanwar Pal during his rule in Princely State Karauli. The obverse side of this coin depicts Persian legend with AH date 1895. The reverse side of this coin depicts Katar, Jhar, RY date, Mint mark of Bhanwar Pal and Julus formula.
