2018 Native American 1 Dollar Coin

In 2018, the United States of America had issued one dollar commemorative coin as the initiative of the Native American $1 coin program.This programme was started in America in 2009. Its first issue was a $1 coin which features the design celebrating the important contribution made by the Indian tribes and individual Native Americans to the history and development of the United States. The Native American $1 Coin Program is authorized by the Native American $1 Coin Act Public Law 110-82.
The Native American $1 is issued to honour the contributions made by Native American tribes to the history and development of the country.
The obverse side of this coin depicts the image of Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste. Inscriptions include LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. The year, mintmark, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are on the coin’s edge. The reverse side of this coin depicts the portrait of Jim Thorpe along with elements that highlight his football and Olympic achievements. Inscriptions include JIM THORPE, WA-THO-HUK (Thorpe’s Sac and Fox tribe name), UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and denomination.
