Wreck & Crash Mail Society displays at NY 2016
2016-05-13 Fri
You wouldn’t have come across someone who would be interested in doing something as novel as this in the field of Philately. Believe it or not, the Wreck & Crash Mail Society was established in 1994 and is completely dedicated towards collecting and studying everything about delayed, damaged or interrupted mail services. The society is comprised of four study groups, the Air Crash Study Group, Railroad Wreck Study Group, Ship Wreck Study Group, and Suspended Mail/Conflicts Study Group. What makes this community so unique is the fact that they collect letters and covers that are lost in transit due to airline crashes, train wrecks, shipwrecks, natural disasters, robberies, terrorism, wars, insurrections, hijackings, and post office delays.
They would be displaying their collection at the World Stamp Show-NY 2016 (May 28th to 4th June) and the visitors will also get a chance to purchase samples of La Catastrophe.
Other displays that would be put up include the “Air Crash Mail of Pan American World Airways”’ by Ken Sanford, “Rare and Unusual Interruptions of Mail” by Steve Berlin, and “What’s Eating Your Mail” by Steve Berlin.
Visitors are welcome to come along with stamps of this type and discuss freely about their collection.
