The United States of America had issued this commemorative coin with the theme of Basket Ball in the year 2020. This coin will be on sale from 4th April 2020 on the U.S. Mint catalog site.On December 21, 1989, a teacher named Dr. James Naismith had introduced this game to the students of Springfield College, formally the YMCA International Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts. Later; after three years these games were played in the number of colleges.
In the year 1959, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame was formed to honor and celebrate basketball’s greatest moments and people.
These commemorative coins were an issue in 5$ Gold Coins, Silver Dollar Coins and Clad Half Dollar Coins.
The obverse of this 5 Dollars Gold Coin depicts three players reaching for the ball in unison. The reverse of this coin depicts basketball about to pass through the net.
