Bloodiest Battle of World War II

A commemorative stamp was issued by PHLPost to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Manila. This issue honored all the men, women and children who perished in the conflict. This stamp depicts the Sculpture ‘Memorare’ which is sculptured by peter de Guzman. The monument depicts the despair of a mother cradling her lifeless baby in her arms. A legend is inscribed in it ‘to the innocent lives lost: We do not remember them, nor shall we even forget’. It was a big battle during World War II that was fought by the American and Filipino forces against the Empire of Japan in manila. It was named by the historian as the bloodiest and most horrible conflict of that time. This stamp was unveiled in front of the Memorare monument in San Agustin Church located at the historic Intramuros Manila.
