Hoysala dynasty was one of the ruling dynasties in India; that ruled India the part of modern-day Karnataka and the parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, between 10th and the 14th centuries. The capital of this empire was initially located at Belur but was later moved to Halebidu.The period of the Hoysala Empire is marked as one of the important periods in the development of art and architecture; it also played an important role in the religion in South India.
This gold fanam which weighs around 0.37g was issued from the Hoysala Empire. The obverse of this coin depicts Kalasha flanked by decorations and the reverse of this coin depicts lion.
