Gold Unit of Chalukyas of Kalyani

The Chalukyas of Kalyani also known as the Western Chalukya was one of the powerful dynasties of the Deccan region around 10th to 12th century CE. The parent branch of this dynasty was Badami Chalukya, they also share a link between their contemporary Eastern Chalukya and later Gujarat Chalukya.Kalyani Chalukyas has a benevolent variation in their coinage. The iconography of this coinage has one of the most beautiful designs of Indian numismatics inspired by the Gangas, Rashtrakuta, Kalachuris, etc.
The obverse of the above-illustrated coin depicts five punches on an outer flan of the coin which reads ' Sri' and in the center, a lion is depicted facing left with a raised right forepaw. The reverse of the coin depicts a Kannada numeral one in the center within the line border.
