Shri Krishna Singh: Bihar Kesari

Shri Krishna Singh also known as Shri Babu and Bihar Kesari was the first Chief Minister of Bihar. Along with the nationalists Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. Anurag Narayan Singh and Shri Babu is regarded among the Architectures of Modern Bihar.

Dr. Shri Krishna Sinha was born on 21st October, 1887 in Nawada district of Bihar in a bhumihar Brahmin family. He completed his M.A and took a degree of law from Calcutta University and then started practicing law in his hometown Munger.

He has been among the leading fighters of freedom struggle. As the echoes of his voice spread around Bihar, people began calling him 'Bihar Kesari'. Sri Krishna Babu first went to Jail in 1922. He underwent different terms of imprisonment for a total of about eight years. S. K. Sinha was first Chief Minister to abolished Zamindari System. He led the Dalit entry into Baidyanath Dham temple, Deoghar.

He passed away on 31st January, 1961. To honor him India Postal Department has issued a commemorative postage stamp of value 500 Paise in 2016.
