Jane Pierce was the wife of Franklin Pierce the 14th president of the United States of America. She was the first lady of the United States of America from 1853 to 1857.br> Jane Means Appleton was born on 12th March 1806 in the Hampton, New Hemisphere. She was born to Jesse Appleton and Elizabeth Means Appleton. Her father Jesse Appleton was appointed as the president of Bowdoin College from the year 1809 to 1819. Jane was a petite, frail, shy, melancholy figure during her childhood; she was the third of their six children. Bowdoin College was also where Jane met her future husband, Franklin Pierce. They married in 1834, eight years after they first met.
The United States of America had issued this commemorative coin $10 with the theme of Jane Pierce in the year 2010. The obverse of this coin depicts a bust of Jane Pierce and the reverse of this coin depicts Jane Pierce seated on the porch.
