Poland is an eastern European country on the Baltic Sea known for its medieval architecture and Jewish heritage. Warsaw, the capital of Poland, has shopping centres and exciting nightlife. It is also famous for the Warsaw Uprising Museum, which honours the city’s WWII-era resistance to German occupation.

In the city of Krakow, 14th-century Wawel Castle that rises above the medieval old town was home to Cloth Hall, a Renaissance trading post in Rynek Glowny (market square). The zloty is the currency of Poland. The word is the masculine form of the Polish adjective 'golden'. The modern zloty is subdivided into 100 groszy.

Today we are looking at a 20 Zlotych banknote issued in 1990. The obverse depicts ‘Zuraw nad Motlawa’, a 15th century crane, in Gdansk, while the reverse depicts a Neptun Fountain in Gdansk.
