U.S. Mint Hunting Vendors For the 2016 American Eagle Palladium Bullion Coin

2016-05-06 Fri

The Winged Liberty Head design which was originally introduced on coins in 1916 will be featured on 2 more coins in 2016, the Centennial gold dime and a palladium bullion coin.

The U.S. Mint is in search of vendors for the precious metal that will be used for fabricating the required planchets while producing the palladium bullion coins.

Officials have not yet revealed when they are going to offer the bullion coins but have stated that they will be sold through a network of authorized purchasers.

As per the American Eagle Palladium Bullion Coin Act of 2010, the obverse of the palladium bullion coin will feature the original Winged Liberty Head dime design. The same design was also used for the 2016-W Winged Liberty Head gold dime as well.

Huizenga’s legislation also states that all versions of the 2016 American Eagle silver coins, other than the bullion release, should bear a smooth instead of reeded edge, on which an inscription denoting the 30th anniversary of the American Eagle silver dollar series will appear.
