The United States of America had issued this commemorative gold dollar with the theme of President William McKinley in the year 1916. This commemorative coin was issued by the United States of America after 15 years of William McKinley’s assassination, the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Association requested for issuing special silver dollars.

William Mckinley was the 25th president of the United States; he had served his country from March 4, 1897, until his assassination on September 14, 1901. He had served his country for one full term and was re-elected again in the year 1900. He was assassinated after leading the nation to victory in the Spanish-American War and raising protective tariffs to promote American industry.

The obverse of this coin depicts an image of President William McKinley in profile. The reverse of this coin depicts the McKinley Memorial building in Niles, Ohio.
