Henry VI was King of England reigning from 1422 to 1461 and again from 1470 to 1471. Today on 16th December in the year 1431, he became king of France at Notre-Dame, in Paris

Henry was born on 6th December 1421 at Windsor Castle to Henry V. He succeeded to the English throne at the age of nine months upon his father's death, and succeeded to the French throne on the death of his maternal grandfather Charles VI shortly afterward. He is the only English monarch to also have been crowned King of France.

Gold "Angel" coin of Henry's later reign, struck in either London or York, showing the Archangel Michael (hence the coin's name) slaying the Dragon (left), and Henry's shield being carried aboard a ship (right).
