Stone Mountain is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock situated in city Stone Mountain in Dekalb County, Georgia, United States of America. This place is well known for its enormous rock relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief in the world. It is considered the largest high relief sculpture in the world. The carving depicts three Confederate figures, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson, and has been the subject of widespread controversy.

The United States of America had issued this commemorative half dollar in the year 1925 with the theme of Stone Mountain Memorial. This commemorative half dollar was issued by the United States of America to commemorate the effort, begun in 1923, to carve the Stone Mountain Memorial in Georgia.

The obverse of this commemorative half dollar depicts equestrian figures of generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. (Stonewall) Jackson reviewing the Confederate armies. The reverse of this coin depicts an eagle, emblematic of liberty, poised on a mountain crag with stars dimly visible in the background.
