Mailara Mahadevappa was an Indian freedom fighter and revolutionary from Karnatka accompanied Gandhiji in Dandi March. He organized a group of youths and commenced a sort of guerrilla warfare against the government. His scarifies and courage of inspired a large number of people.Great patriot and freedom fighter were born on June 8, 1911, at Motebennur village, Karnata. At a very young age, he was inspired by the ideas of love for the country. He had a deep desire to go to Sabarmati Ashram and get involved in its activities.
His band if patriots roamed the country, raiding government offices and burning records, capturing government mails and seizing government money in transit. He was only 32 years old when he attained Martyrdom.
To honor him India Postal Department has issued an Rs. 5 stamp commemorating Martyr Mahadevappa Mailar who sacrificed his life for the service of the society and liberation of the country. The stamp depicts his portrait.
