New Scottish Coin Used For Toss At a Rugby Game

A coin which features the Forth Bridge hogged the limelight during the first meeting of the teams Scotland and the Barbarians at Murrayfield on May 22nd 2004.The coin which was used for the toss was then given to one lucky fan at the match. A member of the Golden Lions parachute squadron flew down to the stadium at half time with an envelope containing the name of the winner. Scott Murray and Barbarians' captain Taine Randell was also presented with a silver coin to mark the occasion.
The new Scottish coin was the first of the four-coin £1 designs which was launched by the Royal Mint representing Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
