Today in 2000, the state of Jharkhand received the title of Statehood. This state was the part of southern Bihar but due to administration problems, the state was divided under the Bihar Reorganisation Act. It is the15th largest state of India known for its hilly and holy landscape. The capital of this state is Ranchi.This land is both rich in resources and history. Its habitation history can be traced back to the Mesolithic-Chalcolithic period. The Chotta Nagapur Plateau is blessed with different rivers and abounded of Flaura and fauna. This state suffers from the resource curse and the utility of the resource is not done properly. This state is also home for many Indo-Aryan languages like Angika, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Ho, Kharia, Kurukh, Khortha, Kurmali, Magahi, Maithili, Mundari, Nagpuri, Odia, etc.
This state holds several industry-based cities like Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, and Ranchi. The modern history of this state is recognized by the tribal revolutionary Birsa Munda. He spearheaded a tribal religious Millenarian movement against the British Raj.
To honor this legendary personality India Post issued a commemorative stamp in 1988. The state of Jharkhand was also formed on the day of Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary on 15th November.
