Lakshmi on Coins of Muhammad Ghori

Muhammad Bin Sam also is known as Muhammad Ghori was born in the year 1162 CE; he is considered as the first Turkish who had invaded India and the founder of the Muslim rule in India.After defeating Prithviraj in the Second Battle of Tarin, Muhammad Ghori minted coins that were almost identical to Prithviraj coins. The obverse of the coin has the image of the bull and the reverse side of the coin has the image of Horsemen with the legend Muhammad Bin Sam instead of Prithvi deva.
This Laxmi type coin was issued by Muhammad Bin Sam. Before Muhammad bin Sam, these Lakshmi type coins were issued by the number if Hindu dynasties of India like Chandellas of Bundelkhand, Kalachuris of Tripuri, Paramaras of Malwa, Gahadavalas of Kanauj, etc. In this Laxmi type coin, he had the name of a Hindu king he had defeated with his name Shri Mahamad Sami.
The obverse of this coin depicts a Hindu goddess in a sitting position. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with Nagari legend ‘Srimad maha/mad bin sam.
