The san Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge is also known as Bay Bridge or as the Emperor Norton Bridge. This bridge has the most complex crossing that spans San Francisco Bay from the city of San Francisco to Oakland and Yerba Buena Island. The construction of this bridge was begun on 9th July 1933 and this bridge was open for the public on 12th November 1936. As a part of Interstate 80 and the direct road between San Francisco and Oakland, it carries 2,60,000 vehicles a day on its two decks.The United States of America had issued this half-dollar commemorative coin in the year 1936 with the theme of a Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. This coin was issued by the United States of America to commemorate the opening of the bridge that year. The obverse of this coin depicts a grizzly bear, the symbol of California. The reverse of this coin depicts the view of the bridge with the historic Ferry Tower in the foreground, Yerba Buena Island and East Bay Hills in the distance.
