Greater Cleveland is part of the larger Cleveland–Akron–Canton Combined Statistical Area and the Great Lakes Megalopolis.The United States of America had issued this commemorative half dollar with the theme of Cleveland Greater Lakes in the year 1936. This commemorative half –the dollar was issued by the United States of America to commemorate the 100th anniversary on the city of Cleveland and the Great Lakes Exposition. The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of the founder of the city Moses Cleveland. The reverse of this coin features mapmaker's compass poised over a map of the Great Lakes and pointing to the northern and southern extremities of the lakes.
