Copper Cash of Chikkadeva Raya Wodeyar

Chikkadeva Raya Wodeyar was 14th Maharajah of Mysore; he ruled Mysore from 1679 CE till 1704 CE. He sat on the throne of Mysore after the death of his uncle Devaraja Wodeyar I in the year 1673 CE, but he got installed on the throne of Mysore in the year 1679 CE. After sitting on the throne of Mysore he had introduced heavy taxes that were mandatory for the labours, but not for his soldiers. These unusual heavy taxes created a rebel in the people and they started protesting against him.This copper cash was issued by Chikkadeva Raya Wodeyar weighs around 2.31g. The obverse of this coin depicts the Garuda facing towards the left in Virasana position. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as Vira/Devaraya.
