The Battle of Gettysburg was fought from 1st July 1863 till 3rd July 1863. It is considered one of the most important engagements of the American Civil War. Battle of Gettysburg is considered as the turning point of the war and probably this war is considered as one of the most intensively studied and analyzed than any other battle in U.S history.The United States of America had issued this commemorative silver half-dollar with the theme of Battle of Gettysburg in the year 1936. This commemorative half-dollar was issued by the United States of America to commemorate the 75th anniversary of one of the most crucial battles of the Civil War.
The obverse side of this commemorative coin depicts profile images of Union and Confederate Soldiers. The reverse side of this commemorative coin depicts fasces-a bundle of sticks bound around an ax-flanked by shields of the Union and Confederacy and supported by sprays of oak and laurel.
