Birth Anniversary of P.M. Thevar

U. Muthuramalingam Thevar, also known as P.M. Thevar was an iconic Indian leader of 20th century. His career was marked by his nationalism, spiritual discipline, courage and compassion.Thevar was born on 30th October 1908 in Pasumpon village, Tamil Nadu. Regarded as Tilak of South India, Thevar was elected three times to the national parliament. He was also served a former national deputy chairman of All India Forward Bloc.
To honour this great leader, India Postal Department has issued a 100 Paise commemorative stamp in 1995.
