Akbar Gold Mohur Listed For INR 1,25,000

This gold mohur issued by Mughal Emperor Akbar in the Hijri Year 973 is listed for INR 1,25,000 in the coming auction of Oswal Antiques which will be held in Pune on 16th November 2019.Akbar ruled the Mughal Empire after the death of his father Humayun in the year 1556. He sat on the throne of the Mughal Empire when he was just 13 years old. After defeating Hemu, a Hindu general of the Sur dynasty in the Second Battle of Panipat, Akbar reacquired the Delhi throne and re-established the Mughal rule.
This gold which weighs around 10.87g was minted in Jaunpur. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of king Akbar. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the Kalima.
