French king Louis XIII was crowned in Reims Cathedral on17th October 1610. He was also titled as the sovereign king of Navarre from 1610 to 1620. Louis XIII ruled France for thirty-three years and died in 1643 at the age of 41. Louis XIII was subsequently respected as one of the most powerful rulers in Europe. He died in 1643.The eldest son on King Henry IV and Marie de Medicis, Louis succeeded to the throne upon the assassination of his father. He cooperated closely with his chief minister, the Cardinal de Richelieu, to make France a leading European power.
The French coins are known as Louis d’or were introduced by him in 1640. It depicts the portrait of King Louis on one side of the coin; the French royal coat of arms is on the reverse.
