2019-09-30 Mon

Sir Elton Hercules John is a very popular British singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer. He is most known for his unique blend of pop and rock styles. John has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the world's best-selling music artists. He has more than fifty Top 40 hits, as well as seven consecutive number-one albums in the United States, 58 Billboard Top 40 singles, 27 Top 10 singles, four of which peaked at number two and nine of which reached number one.

In the midst of the display encompassing Elton John's continuous goodbye visit and the ongoing Rocketman biopic, there has come another tribute to the iconic vocalist.

England's Royal Mail today issued 12 postage stamps to celebrate John. It can be said to be the most recent melodic act to be portrayed on U.K. stamps over the few years.

Eight of the Elton John stamps delineate spreads from a portion of his well-known collections in his long profession:

• Honky Château (1972).
• Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973)
• Caribou (1974).
• Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (1975).
• Sleeping With the Past (1989).
• The One (1992).
• Made in England (1995).
• Songs From the West Coast (2001).
Four other stamps in a miniature sheet highlight John in performance at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1973; Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium in 1975; Buckingham Palace in 2012; and New York's Madison Square Garden from last year.
