Akbar Gold Mohur Sold For INR 90,000

This gold mohur issued by Mughal Emperor Akbar is sold for INR 90,000 in an auction of Todywalla which was held in Mumbai on 21st September 2019.

Jalal-ud-Din Muhammad Akbar was the ruler of the Mughal Empire who sat on the throne after the death of his father Humayun in the year 1556. He sat on the throne of the Mughal Empire when he was just 13 years old. After defeating Hemu, a Hindu general of Sur dynasty in the Second Battle of Panipat, Akbar reacquired the Delhi throne and re-established the Mughal rule.

The obverse of this gold mohur was is inscribed with the name and title of Akbar. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the kalmia. This gold mohur was issued by Akbar during the Hijri Year 971 from the mint Agra.
