Christopher Columbus Quincentenary Half Dollar

The United States of America had issued this commemorative half-dollar in the year 1992 with the theme of Christopher Columbus. This half-dollar was issued to commemorate 500th Anniversary of the discovery of United States of America by Christopher Columbus.The surcharges from the sales of these coins will be deposit in the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Fund and be available to the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation.
The obverse of this coin depicts the portrait of Christopher Columbus with the crew of small boat and ship behind him. The reverse of this coin depicts three ships under sail within an inner circular border.
